Water Supply Turned Off for Winter

1 min read

Please note that the water supply across the allotment site has now been turned off for the winter.

Although this is slightly earlier than usual, the Committee has made this decision for the following reasons:

  • Reduced demand: Less water is generally needed for growing at this time of year.

  • Rainwater availability: Following the recent wet weather, water butts on individual plots and the IBC tanks near the garden should be well stocked with rainwater.

  • Annual water readings: Turning off the supply allows us to provide our water supplier with an end-of-year meter reading, helping us accurately calculate water usage for the financial year.

Toilet Facilities

The toilet remains open and available for use. However, as the mains water has been turned off, plotholders are asked to use a bucket of water from the IBC tanks to flush the toilet.

This is the same arrangement as in previous winters.

Drinking Water and Handwashing

Please remember to bring your own water if you intend to make hot drinks, need drinking water or wish to wash your hands while on site.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
